Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway

Ravenglass is a picturesque village located on the western edge of the Lake District National Park, and it is also the starting point for one of the UK's most famous heritage railways, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. This steam railway, also known as the "La'al Ratty" by locals, takes passengers on a scenic journey through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the region. The narrow-gauge railway covers a distance of 7 miles from Ravenglass to Dalegarth station, which is located at the foot of England's highest mountains, Scafell and Scafell Pike. The nearest national rail station to Ravenglass is Ravenglass station itself, which is located on the Cumbrian Coast Line

Passengers can choose to terminate their  Cumbrian Coast Line journey at Ravenglass station and transfer to the steam railway for a unique experience. 

You can explore the village of Ravenglass, which has a long history dating back to Roman times, and visit the Roman Bath House, which is one of the best-preserved Roman buildings in the UK. You can also take a stroll along the beach or enjoy a traditional pub lunch before boarding the steam railway.
