Multiple Railcards. Finally.
This has been one of the most requested things for years.
And for good reason.
Travelling with a mix of Railcards has always been awkward. One person has a 16–25, someone else has a Two Together, someone has nothing at all… and suddenly working out the right tickets becomes more effort than it should be.
So we’ve fixed it.
What’s changed
You can now search for journeys using multiple Railcards in a single booking, while still getting the benefit of split tickets.
Up to three different Railcards can be applied across passengers, and TrainSplit will work out the right combination of tickets behind the scenes.
No need to split the journey manually. No need to guess which tickets apply to who.
It just handles it.
Why this matters
On the surface, it sounds simple. In reality, it’s not.
Each Railcard has its own rules. Split tickets break journeys into multiple parts. Then you’ve got different passengers, different eligibility, and different combinations of fares.
Getting that right, consistently, without breaking the journey or missing savings, is where things usually fall apart.
This is where TrainSplit does the heavy lifting.
A real example
Say you’re travelling as a group of three:
- Two of you have a Two Together Railcard
- One person doesn’t have a Railcard
Previously, this meant compromise. Either you ignore the Railcard for part of the journey, or you split things manually and hope you’ve got it right.
Now, you just search once.
TrainSplit will:
- apply the Railcard where it’s valid
- exclude it where it’s not
- and still find the best split ticket combinations across the whole journey
You’ll also see exactly how it’s applied, so there’s no guesswork.
Everything else stays the same
You still get:
- split ticket savings across your journey
- seat selection across operators
- tickets grouped clearly, even when split
And thanks to improvements in industry data, we’re now better at allocating seats together too.
Now available across TrainSplit
Multiple Railcards is now live across TrainSplit, including our apps and website.
We’ll continue to refine and improve it, but you can start using it straight away.
The bottom line
If you travel with friends, family, or anyone with a different Railcard setup, this removes one of the biggest bits of friction.
No workarounds.
No second guessing.
Just the right tickets, at the right price.
